Two months ago, when the iPad App Store hit the 10.000 available apps mark, we said that 20.000 would be available by August. This morning I opened the App Store app on my iPad and found out that, yes, 20.690 iPad apps are available.
At a rate of 5.000 approved apps per month, and some great pieces of software coming out in these weeks (Times, Flipboard, Calcbot, Viewfinder, The Incident, OmniFocus - just to name a few) it’s not hard to imagine that by the end of the year 35.000 / 40.000 apps will be available and that many of them will be great apps.
It’s the second wave we’ve always talked about, and it’s happening now.
