Two weeks ago I installed a new app on my iPhone called “Due” which allows me to easily set up reminders for any action I don’t want to dump into my GTD system (powered by OmniFocus), yet I need to be reminded of. Due for iPhone is very simple, and it lets you enter a title for the “task”, a due time and play around with some straightforward settings.
1TapAlarm by ShinyFrog is an even simpler app you can use to setup quick timers on your iPhone. Plus, it’s free in the App Store.
The application looks beautiful and polished, and so does the icon - which promises to shine on your homescreen. UI pleasure aside, the app does one thing: it allows to setup a timer and get notified when the time is up. That’s it. While in portrait mode you have this timer you can spin to create a reminder, while the app turns into a more classic digital clock in landscape mode.
1TapAlarm sends you local notification even if it’s closed using iOS 4 APIs. It looks sharp on the Retina Display, and it works just as advertised. If you’re looking for a nice, simple solution to create quick timers on your iPhone - give it a try. It’s free.
