T.C. Gou, the younger brother of Hon Hai Precision (parent company of Foxconn & Cheng Uei Precision) President Terry Gou, wants to open a chain of 100 retail stores that will sell Apple products. While Apple themselves are already expanding in the Asian country, Cheng Uei is prepared to sell Apple products as an official reseller.
Businessweek reports,
“Gou’s Cheng Uei Precision Industry Co. jumped its 6.9 percent limit in Taipei trading after the company confirmed plans to open its first Apple retail outlet in Shanghai by yearend. Taipei-based Cheng Uei aims for 100 stores in China within three years …
Cheng Uei currently operates more than 20 “Studio A” Apple Premium Reseller stores in Taiwan and Hong Kong.”
With Apple gunning for the Asian market, the aid of Cheng Uei can only help to boost market share in an otherwise new battleground.
