With another email originally posted on MacLife.gr forums (Greek), Steve Jobs replied to a user asking for better PDF management through folders and said the feature is “coming”. Seriously, that’s the only word in the email. We can’t verify the headers of the email and MacLife.gr has no track record of previous Steve Jobs email-related material, but we think this one’s legit.
It makes sense to add folder creation and management capabilities to iBooks, especially for PDFs: I personally drag a lot of PDFs to the app’s database from iTunes, and it’s not really intuitive to scroll through all those documents in iBooks’ shelves interface.
We may also go a step further and assume file management through folders is going system-wide on iOS with an update. Perhaps it’s soon for that (Apple only allows you to organize apps in folders), but folders for PDFs in iBooks sounds like a great idea.
