If you ask Cody what’s so great about Android, it’s very likely that among all of his responses there would be a special mention for turn-by-turn navigation. Yeah, stuff like Tom Tom and Navigon, but free.
Well, it turns out that it might be coming to the iPhone as well.
As MacUser reports, Google has announced free turn-by-turn navigation for UK this morning, and has included the iPhone platform into the supported devices:
“Google confirmed at a London press conference that it plans to bring free satnav to other smartphone platforms, including the iPhone, although it wouldn’t say when.”
But as we can read, no release date or other details. Whether this could mean the end of iPhone apps like the aforementioned TomTom we don’t know, but still I think it’s great news. We’ll keep you posted about it.
