In case you missed our previous coverage, Fotopedia Heritage is a beautiful app for iPhone and iPad that aims at becoming “an encyclopedia for humanity” based on stunning photographs from around the world.

Described as an endless photo journey, I imagine fans of Discovery’s Planet Earth would really enjoy sinking their teeth into this app. There’s a great wealth of information that can be uncovered with each photograph, making us aware of scenic, historic, and cultural locations.
The latest 2.0 update brings support for the Retina Display, but there’s a whole lot more besides shiny new graphics. 25,000 more photos, for example, should make the app feel more human and alive than ever. Together with that, a new slideshow mode to turn your iPhone and iPad into a digital frame showcasing beautiful photos (and not those pics from the party at your bro’s house) and a shuffle mode to get random photos by shaking your device.
Fotopedia Heritage is, as usual, free and available here. A great update.
