Time Geeks is a classic seek and find game like the ones we used to play in the 80s and early 90s. Those games where you’re given something to find, and the level isn’t completed until you find it. Simple rules. Simple gameplay. So how do you reinvent the genre today, with an App Store overloaded with 3D FPS and zombies games? By making it fun, geek, great-looking and cheap.
At $0.99 in the App Store, I’m not afraid to say Time Geeks is my new favorite game on the iPhone.
All you have to do is find hidden items, people or animal in large levels containing tons of other items, people, animals and buildings that’ll make everything quite difficult. So where’s the fun? First, the app sports awesome pixel-art graphics that look great on the Retina Display and bring us back to when pixel graphics were actually a standard. Today, it’s considered art. And we like it. Sounds are equally retro, with an 8-bit soundtrack that’ll keep you company during all the 100 levels and 7 minigames the developers implemented. The game also supports Game Center and includes a Map Editor.
But most of all, it’s the geek factor that makes Time Geeks stand out. If you take your time to pay attention to the levels, you’ll notice hundreds of Lost and TV shows references, movie characters, videogame heroes and much, much more. It’s a geek’s dream built around a pixel-based seek & find game.
You’d be crazy to not buy this at .99 cents.
