World of Goo Is Coming To The iPad

World of Goo is one of my favorite games for the Nintendo Wii. Even though I haven’t been playing with a “physical” game for the Wii in years now, I don’t mind turning on the console every once in a while to enjoy a brief session of World of Goo. Sold through Nintendo’s WiiWare virtual store, 2D Boy’s still is the highest rated game for the Wii. I guess that says a lot.

The same game (which Wii aside is also available on PC, Mac and Linux) is now coming to the iPad. Actually, according to the developers’ blog, it is simply awaiting Apple’s approval and should be available for sure before the holiday season. It’ll be a complete port of the Wii version, multiplayer included. Thanks to the iPad’s multi-touch technology, up to 11 fingers will be allowed to touch the screen and interact with the black goo.

As for an iPhone version of World of Goo, the developers aren’t sure yet. They say there’s a “lot to pour in”, and they don’t want to release a mobile version of WoG unless it runs silky smooth.

This is a game I’m seriously looking forward to, and of the reasons why I think the iPad is becoming an excellent game console.
