Attention all developers: The Unreal Development Kit used to create Epic Citadel is now at your disposal thanks to a December 2010 beta. We here at MacStories demand quality titles such as the Legend of Zelda, Metroid, and Mario on our iPads immediately. We also understand that those games probably have nothing to do with said development kit, but we can dream right?
The UDK3 is a development framework that now includes support for iOS devices. Specifically launched to enable developers to create rich gaming environments for the iPhone, iPod touch, and iPad, you now have at your disposal the source code for Epic Citadel, plenty of simulation tools for lighting and effects, and lots of scripting and various game engine goodies that knock math and other fancy functions on their backsides. I can’t pretend I actually know anything about gaming development, but you can simply visit the beta page so you can learn more and download the UDK to your Mac Pro.
