Apple today introduced a new 21.5-inch iMac with Retina 4K display, plus a new Magic Trackpad 2, Magic Mouse 2 and a Magic Keyboard. In addition, the existing iMac line was also refreshed, from the 27-inch iMac with Retina 5K display to the bottom of the line 21.5-inch iMac.
“From the first iMac to today, the spirit of iMac has never wavered — deliver the ultimate desktop experience with the latest technologies, gorgeous displays and cutting-edge designs,” said Philip Schiller, Apple’s senior vice president of Worldwide Marketing. “These are the most stunning iMacs we’ve ever made. With our gorgeous new Retina displays, more powerful processors and graphics and all-new Magic accessories, the new iMac continues to redefine the ultimate desktop experience.”

New 21.5-inch iMac with Retina 4K display
Starting at $1,499, this new 21.5-inch iMac has a screen resolution of 4096 x 2304 and the base model comes with a 3.1GHz quad-core Intel Core i5 processor, a 1TB hard drive, 8GB of memory, and an Intel Iris Pro Graphics 6200 graphics card. You can also customize the new iMac – upgrading the processor up to a 3.3GHz quad-core Intel Core i7, add up to 16GB of memory, and up to 512GB of Flash Storage (or 2TB Fusion Drive).
The 21.5-inch iMac with Retina 4K display is available for purchase today from the online Apple Store, Apple retail stores and selected Apple resellers. This new 21.5-inch iMac with Retina 4K display is a new addition to the iMac line and does not replace the existing 21.5-inch iMac (non-Retina) which continues to be sold (and has actually been refreshed today).
Refreshed 27-inch iMac with Retina 5K display
Apple has also refreshed the 27-inch iMac with Retina 5K display which was first introduced last October. The new base model drops in price from $1,999 to $1,799 and comes with a 3.2GHz quad-core Intel Core i5, 8GB of memory, a 1TB hard drive and an AMD Radeon R9 M380 graphics card.
The existing 27-inch iMac (non-Retina) has today been discontinued and the Retina 5K iMac is the only 27-inch iMac that is being sold.
New Magic Trackpad 2, Magic Mouse 2, and Magic Keyboard
Bundled in the new and refreshed Retina iMacs are new models of the Magic Trackpad, Magic Mouse, and Magic Keyboard. The Magic Trackpad sees the biggest upgrade as it now includes Force Touch functionality. But the other big change is that all three of the devices now come with built-in rechargeable batteries which are charged via a Lightning port. The Magic Keyboard has not adopted the new butterfly mechanism from the new MacBook, but it does use San Francisco for the inscriptions on each key.
$129 - Purchase Magic Trackpad 2
$79 - Purchase Magic Mouse 2
$99 - Purchase Magic Keyboard
Designed around a built-in rechargeable lithium-ion battery, all three accessories eliminate the need for disposable batteries and feature a noticeably more solid internal structure and quality feel. The new Magic Keyboard features a full-size keyboard in a sleek new design that takes up 13 percent less space on your desktop. With a new scissor mechanism and lower profile, the Magic Keyboard provides an incredibly stable, precise and comfortable typing experience. The new Magic Mouse 2 is lighter, sturdier and features an optimized foot design for a smoother glide. The new Magic Trackpad 2 features a 29 percent larger surface and brings Force Touch to the desktop for the first time.
