Apple’s September 12 Keynote by the Numbers

Today’s Apple keynote was one of the biggest in recent memory, and as always, the company filled it with loads of figures, stats, and numbers. Here are some of the highlights from Apple’s September 12 keynote at the Steve Jobs Theater.

Apple Park and Retail

  • Apple Park has over 170 acres of green space containing over 9,000 trees.
  • Roughly 500 million people visit Apple Stores yearly.
  • Apple employs 65,000 retail employees.

Apple Watch

  • Apple Watch grew 50% year-over-year in the last fiscal quarter.
  • Apple Watch is now 1st in watch sales worldwide.
  • Apple Watch has a customer satisfaction rating of 97%.
  • With the new, cellular Apple Watch Series 3 and Apple Music, you can stream 40 million songs on your wrist while away from your iPhone.
  • Apple Watch Series 3 is 70% faster than the previous generation model.
  • The cellular Apple Watch Series 3 model delivers 85% faster Wi-Fi performance and is 50% more battery efficient.
  • Apple Watch Series 3 will start at $329 for the non-cellular model and $399 for the cellular version.
  • Apple Watch Series 3 with cellular will launch in 9 countries with 14 different carriers.

Apple TV

  • Apple recently received its 2nd Emmy for Apple TV.
  • The new A10X chip found in the Apple TV 4K delivers 2x the CPU performance and 4x the GPU performance of the previous generation Apple TV.
  • The new Apple TV 4K will start at $179.

iPhone 8 and iPhone X

  • Both iPhone 8 models feature speakers that are 25% louder than those found in the iPhone 7.
  • The A11 chip, found in all three new iPhones, features a 6-core CPU and an Apple-built graphics chip offering 30% faster graphics than the A10 chip.
  • The iPhone 8 Plus and iPhone X can shoot 4K 60 FPS video and 1080p 240 FPS slow-mo video.
  • All models of the latest iPhones will come in two storage tiers of 64 GB and 256 GB.
  • The iPhone 8 Plus camera features F/1.8 and F/2.8 apertures, while the iPhone X has sensors with F/1.8 and F/2.4 apertures.
  • The iPhone X features a 5.8 inch display with a resolution of 2436x1125 at 458 PPI.
  • The neural engine in the iPhone X performs 600 billion operations per second.
  • While the chance of a random person fooling Touch ID was 1 in 50,000, it is now 1 in 1,000,000 with Face ID.
  • During a Face ID scan, 30,000 invisible dots are projected onto your face.
  • The iPhone X’s battery life is 2 hours longer than the iPhone 7.
  • The iPhone X will start at $999.
