Android Gaining on iPhone Shipments Per Day

jkOnTheRun published a report this afternoon comparing daily RIM, iPhone, and Android shipments. While the iPhone ships 97,222 iPhones per day, the adolescent Android is shipping 65,000 models per day, and that number is increasing.

While jk reports that Apple’s numbers are decreasing each quarter, I wouldn’t surprised to see a substantial increase for the next two quarters with the launch of the next generation iPhone. And if Apple does end up selling the iPhone on a second carrier (like Verizon), would Android be able to compete?
