Newsweek’s Dan Lyons (also known as Fake Steve Jobs) published an article on Tuesday called “RIP, Macintosh” where he explained how Steve Jobs is now focused on mobile devices and the desktop era is over. It turns out that Steve Jobs thinks Lyons is completely wrong.

From Lyons’ post:

“Dear Macintosh,

I hate to tell you this, but my guess is you’ve probably been sensing it already. I don’t know any good way to say it so let me just be blunt: You’ve been dropped. Dumped. It’s over.

The future of Apple is no longer centered around the Macintosh. You Mac guys just got kicked to the curb, relegated to the steaming dung heap of the past.

I’m sorry, dear old Mac, but your ex-boyfriend Steve has moved on.”

Now as you can guess somebody forwarded the link to Steve Jobs hoping he would reply and stop the rumors once for all. Macsimum News’ Dennis Sellers sent Steve an email quoting Lyon’s post and asking whether the Mac is still in Apple’s plans and if the Mac has a “long and important history ahead of it”.

All Steve said was that Newsweek is “Completely wrong. Just wait.”

Steve Jobs said many times in the past that the Mac is not dead and they’re just focusing on iOS right now, but people still seem to think Apple has ditched desktop computers and won’t care about them anymore. Remember, as long as Xcode runs on Macs and it’s required to develop iPhone applications, we’ve got nothing to fear.
