Task Aware, Location-Aware GTD for iPhone

How do you manage your tasks? How do you try to be productive while so many distractions are behind the corner on the internet? Checking out MacStories all day doesn’t help, but you have to do something to stay on top of your todo list. Let’s say you’re a hardcore GTD user, I bet you’re using some apps to create tasks, organize them, archive them. You’re keeping those tasks in the cloud, but while you wait for Omnifocus servers to refresh your inbox you’re already firing up Tweetie and faving some tweets.

I say, go out. Maybe you’ve got some tasks to complete while on the go, say buy some water or pre-order that shiny iPhone 4 at the nearest Apple Store. In that case, location-awareness could help you. And so you might want to check out Task Aware for iPhone.

Task-Aware brings location-awareness to your tasks: basically, you can tie a task to a specific location you know you’ll visit again in the future. Buy some groceries, bring your new iPad at your cousin’s house, check out that awesome Steve Jobs-like turtleneck at that store downtown. When you add a new task you can set a priority (low, normal, high) and a status (new, pending, complete) together with due date, category and, of course, location. Location use GPS via Google Maps built-in tools, and you’re familiar with them. You can pin your current location, save recurring ones for later usage.

Once you’ve assigned a task to a location, you’ll see it on a map - pretty much like points of interest on Google Maps. It’s simple, and useful if you’re the kind of user who really depends on location for certain activities. The main screen allows to quickly switch between categories and locations, high-priority tasks and flagged ones. It could use some clutter-free redesign, but it’s better than many other productivity apps I’ve seen in the App Store.

Task Aware is good, looks great on the iPhone 4’s Retina Display and does exactly what it’s meant to do. Location-awareness for tasks. Sounds good? Then it’s $4.99 in the App Store.
