I was thinking about this a few days ago: where are Tumblr clients for the iPad? I know that the guys at Tumblr are up to something, but I’m surprised that no third-party developer thought about releasing a full-featured client - especially considering that Twitter clients are (again) invading the App Store and that many Dribbble clients are in the works, too.
Today it’s the start of a new trend: finally, someone released a Tumblr app for iPad. Developed by the Hanso Group (no guys, it’s not the Hanso Foundation), Tumbleroo is the first complete Tumblr application for the iPad.
Tumbleroo brings the Tumblr dashboard to the iPad. You can reblog, reblog with comments, like posts and even write your own from within the app itself. You can also share posts via email and access your whole list of liked items. Of course, you can create text, link, quote, photo, audio and video posts - just like on Tumblr.
The interface design is very simple and minimal, with a sidebar on the left that allows you browse the various sections of Tumblr and a compose / web view panel on the right. I believe that the look of the app will be refined with the upcoming updates, though.
Tumbleroo is available at $4.99 in the App Store. Tumblr users, I think you have to download this. It might be your only choice for a while.
