Oh, Shoemaker - what are you doing? First you forget to tell the world (and Steve) about your iWiz accomplishments, and now you approve Nintendo rip-offs in the App Store? What’s going on?
Here’s what happened: the app review team approved NES games re-packaged as iPhone apps, in violation of Nintendo’s copyright. Look, they’re exact copies of Duck Hunt (Duck Hunt: The Game by SoftGamers), Ice Climbers and Wild Gunman (8-bit Gamepack by Dalian Bale Trade Co., Ltd). The apps have also been doing pretty well in the App Store charts and are currently on sale at $0.99.
I hope the review team will fix this as soon as possible. I wouldn’t be surprised to see these apps gone from the Store later today. [via iLounge]
