If you’ve never heard of Fotopedia, they’ve launched with the mission statement of building an encyclopedia for humanity where content is expressed through delicious photographs from all around the world. If you’ve ever browsed through photos via the iPad’s Guardian Eyewitness app or USA Today’s Day in Pictures, think of Fotopedia Heritage having a similar purpose, but with the intent of providing detailed, wiki/encyclopedia-like information along with a wealth of geo and historical data. It’s really remarkable.
Described as an endless photo journey, I imagine fans of Discovery’s Planet Earth would really enjoy sinking their teeth into this app. There’s a great wealth of information that can be uncovered with each photograph, making us aware of scenic, historic, and cultural locations. Providing an eye-opening experience through a casual interface, Fotopedia Heritage is the perfect wind down and relax coffee-table application. Every photograph encourages an examination of the details, and more than likely you’re bound to find something new curiously enticing.
Available for free, be sure to download and see the world with Fotopedia’s Heritage.
