If you’re a web designer, it’s very likely that you spend a lot of time choosing the right color for your next big project: everyone knows that picking the right color palette is one of the most important thing when designing a website.
Indeed, color communicates different meanings.
So, what if you’re a web designer and you would like to have a mobile, useful color tool at the palm of your hands?
Color Stream (iTunes link) from Sahil Lavingia lets you simply create your own palettes, either from scratch or starting from an existing photo on your iPhone library. You can even auto-generate palettes through the built-in color schemer.
When you fire up Color Stream for the first time you are presented with a gorgeous UI showing you the options to create a new palette. The bottom toolbar lets you arrange your palettes by date, rating and A-Z.
Once you’ve choosen to create a new one, you can switch the color scheme from RGB to CMYK and view the hexcode in the top right corner.
As I said, you Color Stream gives you the possibility to pick up a palette from an existing photo. You just have to choose the one you like from your Camera Roll and then the app will quickly analyze the photo givin’ you some palettes to choose from. Easy and simple, a very useful feature.
Other features include email support and and an integrated Flickr browser for color-related pictures.
At the price of $2.99, Color Scheme doesn’t come really cheap, but I believe it’s the right price for an awesome app which does its job, and does it well.
Great UI, great features.
