The Retina Display is great, and it’s always a pleasure to see updated apps show up in iTunes every day. If you don’t have an iPhone, you really have no idea how gorgeous apps look on it.
I was amazed by Ether, a simple radio app by Pandapps, as I saw the first screenshots in iTunes. Why? Because it’s the first music app that actually looks great on my new device.
The app is very basic, yet functional: you install “radio packs” - quite a good selection - and listen to radio stations. That’s it! No complicated URLs, no server statuses, artworks, offline storage and such. You just listen. The UI is beautiful, and it perfectly fits the straightforward philosophy of the app. In case you’re wondering, the app supports multitasking (and widget controls) and can stream .m3u, .mp3 and .pls channels.
Ether isn’t Snowtape, and doesn’t want to be anything like it. Trust me when I say it’s good. At $0.99, go download it.
