Great ideas often come at the worst times. I’m always either in the shower (insert mental picture here), in line at Bojangles, or in some other awkward position that prevents me from jotting down my latest iteration of the Kitty Cannon 5000. And by the time I get home or near the most reasonable napkin wad I can write on, I often forget the specific details that made it such a brilliant idea. So with a stroke of a red pen, the idea is quickly axed and yet again, I add yet another snotty tissue to my assortment of good ideas gone missing.
Luckily, Ideawell is here to help.
If you have an iPhone, you always have it with you right? I thought so. You see, Ideawell isn’t just another notepad - it’s a supercharged idea tracking application that helps you sort through all the bad ideas and get to the good stuff. And being so mobile, there’s no reason for you not to jot down just how you plan to finally capture that stupid mouse.
Ideawell opens in the Recent Ideas menu, if only to remind you that you have stuff-a-brewin’. You can tap the add button to add a new idea, which you can make as detailed as you like (you can add notes later). Once the idea is added, you can tap it to bring up a submenu where you can rate your idea based on innovation, simplicity, uniqueness, and potential, as well as add notes to your idea.
Just so you know how your ideas stack up, visiting the Top Rated panel will organize your ideas so that you know which ones are worth pursuing. But if that organization isn’t enough, you can tap into Topics to narrow down your lists based on whether your ideas pertain to work, random stuff, recipes, etc.
Lastly, you’ll want to visualize just how well you’re doing out there. In the Analyze graphs, Ideawell takes those ideas and sprouts little balls of joy that let you see just how much potential an idea has. The bigger, higher, and farther along the axis it is, the better. And if you want to filter your glorious graph by Topic, you can do that too.
Ideawell is perfect for those midsummer nights when you’re restlessly tossing and turning with a great idea on your mind. Toss it in Ideawell, give yourself an honest assessment, and you’re off running (and no more pen on napkin action). For $4.99 on the iTunes Store, you can buy yourself a little peace of mind.
