Justin Williams over at Second Gear has been releasing some amazing apps and updates recently: Elements for iPhone and iPad, a Dropbox-based note taking application; Today 2.5, a long awaited update to the popular calendar application for OS X which now allows users to select a default calendar for event and task creation.
Second Gear is about to release a new iPhone app, which I was lucky enough to test, that’s already been submitted to the App Store for Apple’s approval and should (hopefully) be available very soon.
The app is MarkdownMail, and as the name suggests it allows you to write in Markdown (in case you don’t know what I’m talking about, just take a look here) and export to HTML. Simple, yet functional and elegant. The icon is a thing of beauty - you’ll see. The interface of the app is minimal, and does exactly what it has to do: it provides a distraction-free environment where you can write and convert. That’s it.
If you usually write using Markdown (we at MacStories are huge fans, and I’m sure Cody even knows how to blog from Textmate to WordPress using Markdown) this will be the app to have. With built-in “send mail” feature, you’ll also be able to export your writings to any destination you want.
MarkdownMail should be available very soon. Markdown users, you’ve been warned.
