I specialize in a very specific type of coverage. iOS apps coverage.
In all seriousness, I think Inception is the best movie of 2010. I watched it four times already, my friends love it – we all love it. There’s no need to keep saying that Inception is a great movie. But the iPhone app released today and developed by Remote Control Productions, the film music company run by Hans Zimmer? It’s completely awesome. And kind of surreal. An experience that it’s not easy to describe in words.
The app is free, and available in the App Store here. Basically, the app features the official soundtrack from Inception and mixes it with an “augmented sound” technology that captures audio around you to create surreal and amazingly disturbing “dreams”. Dreams, audio-only of course, will be induced through headphones plugged in your iPhone, and you’ll be able to unlock different dreams depending on various conditions.
From the app’s description:
It will change your perception of reality.
Inception The App transports Inception The Movie straight into your life. New dreams can be unlocked in many ways, for example by walking, being in a quiet room, while traveling or when the sun shines. You will get realtime musical experiences.
As I said it doesn’t really make sense in words, you just have to go download the app and try it with your headphones. From what I’ve seen (and heard) so far, the app takes the noises and sounds around you, mixes them with music from Zimmer and applies cool effects such as reverse or fade to them. The result is mind-blowing. And cool.
Inception: The App is available for free in the App Store. As the developers write in iTunes: don’t play this app with the touchscreen. Play it with your life.
