Coming Soon: A Dropbox Powered Social Network

I love Dropbox and I see many new apps and services come out every day, but a social network based on Dropbox and living in your Mac menubar? Sounds even weirder than a social network living in your iTunes sidebar! Oh wait.

Developed by Aptonic, creators of the Mac app Dropzone, we don’t know much about Frenzy besides the screenshot you can check out below. It looks like it’ll be some sort of social app with Dropbox as backend that lets you share files and messages. Here’s what the developer is saying about it:

This will be a slightly more conventional app than Dropzone. It’s a private social network for sharing links, messages and files using Dropbox as the backend. It’s in still in alpha at the moment, but it’s coming along well and I’m hoping to do a big open beta in month or so to get feedback from a wider audience.

I’m intrigued, and looking forward to the app. In the meantime, check out the official website over at frenzyapp.com.
