If you’ve been waiting for the chance to whisper sweet nothings to your Mac, then your time has come, Nuance Communications today announced that Dragon Dictate for Mac is now available.
Peter Mahoney, senior vice president and general manager for Dragon at Nuance:
Recognizing the important opportunity within the Mac community, we set out earlier this year to bring Dragon to the Mac, working closely with our experts from the MacSpeech team, and drawing on our history and proven success with Dragon. We’ve maintained the elements of Dictate that are most important to our Mac customers, such as the native Mac interface, and integrated many features of dragon NaturallySpeaking 11 to bring improved accuracy as well as smarter command and control capabilities to this discerning audience of new Dragon customers.
This is the first version (2.0) of Dragon Dictate for the Mac and it is available as a digital download ($179.99), a physical shipment ($199.99) or an upgrade ($49.99).
Taking its accuracy and performance from the Dragon 11 engine (something I would love in my car), Dictate 2.0 offers a more streamlined set-up and a re-vamped Mac user interface.
In addition to the usual cool features, new features include:
- Dragon Voice Shortcuts - Allows you to search either your Mac or the Web just by asking.
- Proofreading - Uses the Text-to-Speech capabilities already built into Mac OS X to read back text.
- Surrounding Punctuation - Allows you to put punctuation around words just by asking
- Voice Navigation - This allows you to tell your mouse where to go on the screen and lets you click things by saying it.
- Flexible Microphones - Allows easy switching between microphones
