Q4 Predictions: 4 Million Macs Sold?

Apple’s Q4 earnings call is scheduled for next Monday, and analysts contacted by Fortune already predicted 6 million iPads sold, blockbuster sales of 13 million units for the iPhone 4.

Now on to the Macs: according to the majority of analysts polled by Fortune, Apple sold more than 3.8 million Macs in Q4, thanks to the Back to School program, weak PC sales and new desktop models released in July.

Although Apple’s competitors saw PC sales weaken this summer, all signs suggest that the Mac was the exception, driven by back-to-school sales and the new desktop models released in late July (not to mention store traffic from people coming in to buy iPhones and iPads).

The average Q4 unit sales estimate of the 31 analysts we’ve polled is 3.86 million Macs. Five of them, however, expect Apple to report that it sold 4 million or more.

Take a look at the predictions below. Who said the Mac was dead, again?
