I spent a week using the latest Firefox 4 Beta and now I’m back to Safari. I can’t help it, but Safari has the best support for 1Password out there and that, combined with amazing tools such as ClickToFlash, is too valuable to me. If you add stability, speed and elegance to the mix - I guess you know what I mean.
So, Apple launched the official Safari Extensions Gallery last week, and there are more than 100 “officially approved” extensions in there. It’s a good place to discover new stuff, but I’m wondering how often Apple will update it. Anyway, I’ve just installed three new extensions to start the week, and they’re pretty great.
- Sessions
It’s like subversion control for Safari. You can save sessions of tabs, and restore them. All within a simple yet beautiful interface that makes messing with groups of tabs a pleasure.
This one will dramatically increase your productivity. How much time do you spend every day opening Google.com, or placing the cursor in the search bar? Wouldn’t it be great to keep your fingers on the keyboard - on the same page? Yes, it is great. KeySearch puts an additional toolbar in your browser chrome (you can enable a modal window instead, though) and allows you to search on websites like Google, Amazon or Youtube by just entering a keyword + your search query, Say, “youtube iPhona banned videos”. It’ll make you save lots of time. The bar is unobtrusive, recommended.
