Verizon issued a letter today to it’s staff essentially urging them and their family members to put off purchase of the iPhone if they want to get one to ensure the customer is put first. John Stratton, Verizon’s Wireless Chief Operating Officer says in the letter that the launch is key to showing millions of people what it means to be a Verizon customer and enjoy an experience of ‘world-class customer service’.
“Part of that experience is ensuring we’re able to meet our customers’ needs in the midst of what will surely be unprecedented customer demand.
The full letter can be found on The iPhone Blog.
Over on Verizon’s website they’ve set up an article entitled ‘Getting Ready for iPhone 4 – Saving Your Existing Voice Mail’, so if you want to ensure you have all those existing voicemails make sure you head over there and read up on it. There are two sets of directions depending on your existing phone and whether or not it supports Verizon’s Visual Voice Mail service.
The key thing to note is that if you purchase the iPhone 4 on Verizon, your voice mailbox will be lost once the phone is activated. You can read the guide on Verizon’s website.

The last snippet of Verizon iPhone news is that Apple stores are also focusing on that customer experience that Verizon so wants to show off on launch. Apple is sending various antennas to the Apple Stores that for whatever reason don’t have the desirable reception within the store.
