Apple Sued Over iAd Name

Apple certainly isn’t making any friends lately, as there are lawsuits galore. The latest corporate battle flag to be raised comes from Innovative Media, who trademarked the term iAds in 2006; I’m not sure if the trademark was filed in 2006 then approved in 2008 - the source, The Loop, recognizes both dates.

The Loop reports,

“In the lawsuit, Innovative Media claims they contact Apple CEO Steve Jobs after the press conference announcing iAd to let him know they owned the trademark. They also contacted Quattro Wireless, the mobile advertising firm Apple purchased to help with their advertising strategy.”

Though with everything i-related, Apple usually gets their way. We’ve seen trademark issues with almost every aspect of Apple’s mobile product line, and I’m sure some settlement will likely occur out of court.
