The idea of renting tablets on an airline isn’t a new prospect; I believe ARCHOS tablets are already offered on some flights as a way for (1st Class?) passengers to watch or listen to their favorite media. But Australian airline Jetstar is interested in conducting a trial where they could rent iPads to passengers in flight. Though I’d hate to be the guy who mixes up his own iPad in the rental cart.
The Next Web reports,
“The trial […] will see iPads, pre-loaded with movies, TV, books, music and games, rented for $10 on select flights over 90 minutes in length.
The service will use a combination of ‘Australian in-flight entertainment service provider Stellar Inflight and UK-based Bluebox Avionics to develop custom software for the iPad.’”
You have to be on a relatively long flight to enjoy the convenience, but it looks like you won’t be checking email or watching any dirty movies during your flight.
