Something I’ve been impressed with since the 3GS was Apple’s video editing software. Their mobile solutions for recording and editing videos have been generally fantastic, and today, it’s gotten really good. iMovie will become an integral part of your iPhone experience, because who doesn’t want to take advantage of that 720p video camera? The whole setup is gorgeous.
So what exactly can you do with iMovie? Just about everything you’d expect. Manage projects, add transitions, trim clips, insert your own music and photos – it’s just like iMovie for OS X. Well, almost. And what’s incredibly impressive is its sheer speed and ease of use. iMovie is probably Apple’s biggest innovation – more so than FaceTime – because it’s such an engineering feat.
With the iPhone’s A4 processor really giving this thing the juice it needs to run such an application, I’m really impressed with iMovie. It’s a sleek, intuitive application that makes video editing easy for the most non-techie consumers. Someone like my dad can simply drag and drop frames and multiple movies together to stitch the perfect Youtube video.
But the real miracle is the price: It’ll hit the app store for only $4.99 (I’d would have expected $9.99). Apple wants to put this in people’s hands, and when you get your hands on the next iPhone, you have to make this your first purchase.
