Market research firm Book Marketing Ltd has revealed to GigaOM that in the UK both the iPad and iPhone are beating the Kindle as an eBook reader most used by consumers based on data from last September. The story however is very different in the US however with the Kindle far ahead after stellar growth throughout 2010 as the graph below the break demonstrates.
One point of note however with the research was that it didn’t distinguish whether or not an iPhone or iPad user was using the Kindle App or iBooks, which could mean that even in the UK, Amazon might have the greater eBook platform. The firm also discovered some interesting data regarding different eBook users in the US and UK, revealing that more men read eBooks in the UK but in the US more females read eBooks.
