There are more manufacturers and designs for the iPhone than probably any other accessory in the market. Many look nice, others have gimmicks and some are just wrong. The TidyTilt is a new iPhone 4S accessory by Zahra Tashakorinia & Derek Tarnow, 2 students at the IIT Institute of Design in Chicago, that aims to be a unique multi-functional earbud holder, kickstand and mount for the iPhone 4 and 4S.
Video after the break.
The smart cover design tidies your earbud cords and can even be used as a hands-free, portrait or landscape stand for displaying photographs and watching movies. The TidyTilt has a series of magnets on both pieces that will let you attach your wrapped headphones or iPhone onto any magnetic surface such as the fridge, a dry-erase board or a key holder.
Zahra and Derek need proper funding to bring the TinyTilt to the market. $10,000 was needed to fund the project, but TinyTilt has already raised $30,000 dollars from 800 backers with 25 days left. The total amount pledged will go toward production runs, investment and up-front machining and material costs. The extra money should also help Zahra and Derek start a new design firm so they can continue to bring new innovations to the market.
If you want to pledge, the donations start at $5 and go up to $7,000. A pledge of $19 will get you a TidyTilt in one of four colors. I really like the idea of this project, it helps solve a dilemma with what to do with earbuds when they’re not in use and the Smart Cover idea for an iPhone is functional and fantastic. Head on over the the Kickstarter page to learn more and pledge.
