Kindle for iPad Gets Dictionary Update, Wikipedia & Google

The Kindle itself may have gotten a $139 update that makes it an affordable competitor to the iPad, though we image you may not have an interest in the new e-reader. iPad converts can find the Kindle app on their device with the same material available as its plastic counterpart, and it’s gotten a nice update that can make your reading experience even more pleasurable.

Just highlight a word, and the definition appears at the bottom of the screen. But now you can tap a button to further define the word via Wikipedia or Google. Exploring those confusing literary works couldn’t be easier.

The feature also includes a link for the “Full Definition” of the word. Clicking on this will take you to the new Oxford American Dictionary that is automatically downloaded with this 2.2 version of the app. This dictionary contains some 250,000 entries, Amazon says.

Also new is the ability to search through a book if you ever wanted to pinpoint a memorable passage.

You can download the Kindle app for iPad in the App Store here.
