I remember when our 2 kids were infants, we monitored them with audio-only monitors, and that wasn’t too long ago. I remember seeing some units that let you install a video monitor but they seemed very expensive at the time. Now Y-Cam has released the WiFi Baby 3G, a Wi-Fi enabled baby monitor that displays HD quality video and audio for daytime and even uses night-vision technology for night-time monitoring.
The device itself is $279 and uses your computer’s browser for monitoring. The WiFi Baby 3G is both a camera and a computer that works right out of the box with your WiFi network.
- Video & Audio of your child to PC, Mac, iPhone or iPad
- Dedicated Apps for iPhone or iPad (see below)
- Infrared Night Vision, Easy Set Up Software
- No Monthly Service Fee for Internet Access
- American Company, US Based Tech Support
- Genuine Licensed Y-Cam Product - Beware of Imitations
It also gets a little more personal - Y-Cam makes a free iPhone (only) app called MultiLive iP Camera Viewer but it’s limited to only video, no audio. You could go for the $9.99 app called Baby Monitor HD, it’s a universal app that does audio and video. Check out the video below.
This seems like a really cool product, I am going to consider one if/when we have baby number 3 in our family (and the price drops a bit).
