Virtual Input Devices and 3D the Future of OS X?

Patently Apple may have uncovered a first look of a possible next-generation core feature of a future version of OS X. Apple’s patent filing details “virtual input devices” that could relate to the future of iOS gaming and Mac OS multi-touch screens with 3D interaction.

The user’s mouse/trackpad would be displayed virtually on your multi-touch and you could control it via a touch-screen interface.

On the 3D side of this patent, when an item or action is waiting, it will be in 2D mode, but when ‘touched’, 3D mode will come alive. Apple’s latest patent actually hints at the future of iOS gaming with a “virtual input device” being used as a game controller on an iPad.
