Justin Williams of Second Gear has released some amazing iPhone and iPad apps recently: with the popular Elements Dropbox-based text editor and MarkdownMail he gained lots of users and fans in the App Store.
We at MacStories really like the iOS apps Justin Williams has created in the past months. With the release of Shareables for iPhone today (free in the App Store), Second Gear aims at making sharing on the iPhone simple and fun by enabling you to share cool links with your friends and followers with just a few taps.
Shareables is a straightforward and easy to use app which is based on a bookmarklet you have to install in Mobile Safari. Once you’ve installed the bookmarklet all you have to do is hit “Share with Shareables” and you’ll be automatically redirected to the app, which offers many options to share the link via Twitter, Facebook, email and SMS.
The main screen of the app presents you a list of all the links you’ve saved; tap one one, and another screen will pop in asking you where and how you want to share a link. You can share via Facebook and Twitter in-app by entering your credentials, send an email or a text message to one of your contacts. The app can detect a link in your iPhone clipboard upon launch, and ask you if you want to shorten it and share it.
I hope Justin will implement support for custom short URLs in the next versions, CloudApp and Droplr support would be great for instance. As of right now, Shareables is a cool and neat way to keep links you found interesting in a single place – something I bet many users were looking forward to.
Shareables is free in the App Store. You can check out a demo video here. Well done, Second Gear.
