Tweetbot 1.4.3: Sleep Time for Notifications, Hiding Spam, and Mentions from only People You Follow

Tweetbot 1.4.3 has been approved and is now waiting for your loving fingers to tap Update in the App Store. With push notifications now open to everyone who uses Tweetbot (in case you haven’t heard), you’ll now have access to realtime updates for when a tweet is favorited, retweeted, replied to, when you’re mentioned, or when you receive a direct message. With so many notification types available (and our forgetfulness to put our devices on mute before going to sleep), Tweetbot also adds features to help curate what kinds of notifications you receive, and when you receive them.

As shown in the banner, a couple of Tweetbot’s newest features revolve around muting notifications during your bedtime (or work time if you prefer). To access the new settings, visit Accounts & Settings > Settings > (Your Name) under Account Settings > Notifications. Turning sleep on at the bottom of the Noficiations view gives you the option to adjust the start and end time through time pickers. At the top, mentions gains its own setting for only showing you replies from nobody, everyone, or to just people you follow.

If you decided to email a link, Tweetbot now displays the URL of the webpage in the subject line of the email. Make sure the page completely loads before emailing off that link, or else you may get the short URL or Twitter link URL in the subject line instead. For the times when you do need to email a link, the created subject line is more pertinent to the contents of the email than before.

Lastly, and this is my favorite feature, reporting a user as spam will now remove their tweets from your timeline. As you browse mentions, tap and hold down on a spammer’s avatar (which brings up a menu) to report them as spam. After you do so, their tweet will be deleted from your timeline. Say goodbye to clutter!

Tapbots have posted some updates regarding push notifications and are talking about a feature everybody wants in a big 1.5 update, but the specifics haven’t yet been revealed. Overall, the latest version of Tweetbot is sure to make lots of poeople who use push notifications extensively very happy, and those who get lots of spam even happier. Tweetbot is currently $2.99 in the App Store.
