ADC: Safari Extension To Search On Apple Developer Website

If you’re an iOS or Mac developer, you must have noticed that searching for framework keywords, reference documentations and guides on Google isn’t exactly the best experience you can get. Wouldn’t it be great to have everything always under control a few keystrokes away?

This extension, ADC for Safari (and Firefox), puts an additional “developer bar” in your browser with shortcuts iOS and Mac OS reference libraries, a search bar and a link back to the ADC home.

It’s unobtrusive and will save you lot of time going back to the developer’s website and / or searching for stuff. Go download it.

Connor McKay’s YouTube5 Safari extension addresses most videos I encounter and Open in Google Chrome works for the rest but while video demands attention audio is ambient. It doesn’t makes sense to keep a second browser open just for background noise but I couldn’t find a similar extension for audio. So I made one.

It was supposed to come out tomorrow, but SkyFire Web Browser is already available in the App Store at $2.99. I’m not a Safari user anymore, but this extension from Brett Terpstra was just too cool to not mention it: with the click of a button, TabLinks can fill a pre-defined template with information about your open tabs. 1Password Chrome Extension Updated, Looks Great

If you use 1Password (why wouldn’t you?) and you happen to use Chrome as your default browser on the Mac, you may have noticed the latest 1Password beta introduces a brand new great looking Chrome extension. To enable beta releases in 1Password, open the Preferences, go to the Updates tab and check “Include Beta versions”. Install the beta update, and restart Chrome to activate the updated extension.

The new extension looks great, and finally brings proper 1Password support to Chrome. I heard many complaints from users in the past who didn’t want to switch to Chrome due to lack of 1P support.

Those days are over, the new extension looks (and works) very well.

Skyfire, Already Approved by Apple, Will Bring Flash Videos To The iPhone On Thursday

As noted by 9to5mac, Skyfire will release its first iPhone app on Thursday, which will allow users to load Flash videos on the device using the startup’s on-the-fly conversion technology.

Skyfire takes a Flash video, sends it to its own servers and translates it to HTML5 on the iPhone in a few seconds. I’m not really sure whether Skyfire’s servers will hold up on Thursday, or if there’s anything more to be noted about this app besides Flash conversion. Read more

Grazing for iPad Reaches 1.1: Sharing Menu, Smoother Browsing

Grazing is, in my opinion, the best alternative web browser for iPad which I reviewed here back in September. By combining a fast engine with a polished UI and a minimal (yet powerful) feature set, the developers of Grazing managed to release the finest example of what it’s possible to do with a 3rd party web browser on the tablet.

Today Grazing for iPad gets even better with a 1.1 updated aimed at improving overall performances and introducing a couple of new features highly requested by early adopters of the app. In the Settings, you can now turn on Ad-blocking, which works on domain basis and you can enable or disable at any given time. Also in the Settings, a TV Out option that allows you automatically output web pages when the iPad is attached to an external monitor or TV. Read more

Tip: Automatically Add URL To A Downloaded File As Spotlight Comment

Also from Reddit, a nice little hack that allows you to automatically add a downloaded file’s URL as a Spotlight comment to the file itself. Spotlight comments are useful because they add metadata to a file, and they are supported across many 3rd party applications such as DEVONthink, Leap and Launchbar.

Spotlight comments are searchable, and having a URL automatically attached to a downloaded file can come in handy when you remember the website you downloaded something from, but you can’t find the file. Read more
