According to a research not from investment firm Detweiler Fenton, OmniVision will supply the CMOS image sensors for the next generation iPad, Barron’s reports. The second generation tablet is apparently set to ship in the first quarter of 2011 (the first iPad was released on April 3rd, 2010) and Apple is expected to build 2.5 million units in the first quarter.

HDREnabler Brings HDR Capabilities To The iPod Touch | Cydia
The new iPod Touch is good but it’s not an iPhone 4. In fact, it hasn’t got the same Retina Display (no IPS technology for iPod Touch users) and it can’t shoot photos as well as the iPhone 4 can. Particularly, iPod Touch users have been looking for a way to enable HDR photography, and now thanks to HDREnabler (version 1.1-1) available for free in Cydia they can. Read more
Instagram: A New Social Paradigm for iPhone Camera Apps
It’s not easy to build an alternative iPhone camera app: many tried, most of them failed, the one I loved was removed and the developers never got back to us. It’s not easy because Apple’s default camera application requires literally two taps to snap a picture, and there you have it in your camera roll. Where many developers failed is in simplicity and user approach: they promoted their app as the “best camera app for iPhone”, and they stashed 300+ features in it, making it impossible to use for the average iPhone owner.
So either you build an app for professionals (almostDSLR comes in mind), or you create something different. The latter option is exactly what the Instagram developers got right: they built a simple app to take pictures and make them prettier, and they wrapped it up with social features in order to create a brand new community around Instagram. A camera app with a social network inside it? The cool thing is, this could singlehandedly redefine the concept of “simple camera apps” on the iPhone for the months to come. Instagram is that good. So That Would Be A Canon SLR iPhone 4 Case
People just can’t stop stuffing the iPhone 4 inside SLR cameras, can they? I don’t know if these hacks actually work or are mere geek material for posts, still I can’t help but think that they’re incredibly cool.
And the latest one we’re covering here could be the best we’ve ever found: someone really did create an iPhone 4 case out of a SLR Canon. They took out its internal parts, they re-assembled everything and stuffed the iPhone 4 inside. Could an iOS-like interface be the future of SLR cameras? I don’t know, but man - it’s great.

Gruber: iPod Touch with Retina Display and Dual Cameras Coming “In A Few Weeks”
John Gruber, while talking about the Dell Streak:
“That’s almost twice as much as a good iPod Touch, and if you wait a few weeks to buy the Touch, you’ll get one with a Retina Display and dual cameras. If Dell can’t make an iPod Touch competitor, who can?”
Does “a few weeks” mean September? I think so. But then again, what about the mid-August Apple event rumor?
Not Surprising: The iPad is Getting a Camera
I suppose the question isn’t whether the iPad is getting a camera, but when? AppleInsider points out that possible camera capabilities will be available on a future iPad thanks to some assumably accidental information listed on Apple’s iPad profile management policies, though I think we can safely agree we knew this was bound to happen. We basically have a bit of proof, though none was needed when Steve Jobs basically guaranteed we’d be living in a FaceTime world through the upcoming years.
While iPhones do have cameras to disable, no iPad models currently do. However, among the profiles specifically included in its iPad documentation, Apple notes the ability to restrict camera use on the iPad.
Though it is possible to connect an external camera via the USB adapter Apple provides in the iPad, we doubt Apple would specifically target devices that weren’t intended for use with the iPad in the first place. And although people have been clamoring about the idea of “video conferencing” (which is a bit too corporate of a term for my tastes), I really haven’t missed it in the current iteration of the iPad – I rarely even use the MacBook’s built-in iSight. Though if seeing is believing, your subtle confirmation for the world’s biggest point-and-shoot has now been approved.
Now how about that iPod touch?
