Apple Airs New iCloud Commercial: Harmony

Earlier today Apple posted a new TV ad on its website and YouTube channel, this time about iCloud. Carrying a new tag line “Automatic. Everywhere. iCloud.”, the commercial focuses on practically every functionality of Apple’s cloud service, from Photo Stream and Calendar sync to app downloads, Address Book sync, and iBooks. In particular, the ad shows the kind of integration that’s possible with iCloud – the video briefly touches upon Automatic Downloads from one device to another, and more prominently features Photo Stream for photos and calendar events synced across devices.

The YouTube description of the ad reads:

With iCloud, the stuff you love is everywhere you need it. Automatically.

It’ll be interesting to see whether Apple will start using this new “Automatic. Everywhere.” marketing slogan elsewhere. In the meantime, check out the video below.

Apple’s iPhone TV Ads: The Complete Campaign

Apple’s iPhone TV Ads: The Complete Campaign

Adweek created a complete collection of every iPhone ad campaign to date, starting with the 2007 commercial “Hello” (aired on the night of the Oscars).

Without much fanfare, the iPhone campaign has surpassed its predecessor in terms of volume of work—“Get a Mac” lasted for 66 spots over four years (watch them all here), wrapping up its run in October 2009; the iPhone campaign is now entering its sixth year, and is up to 84 spots and counting. “Get a Mac” was beloved for its characters and wry humor. And while the iPhone work may lack that same level of charm—it is, at its heart, merely a series of product demonstrations—it is just as exquisitely produced and in many ways more varied.

I have previously written about how Apple’s commercials often tend to tell “stories” rather than simply showcasing the functionalities of a product. The complete collection of iPhone TV ads provides a fantastic example of how Apple’s marketing style can be a little different, but still effective and capable of establishing an emotional connection with the audience.

Apple Shares the Fun With New iPod touch Commercial

With the white iPod touch announced, it’s about time Apple time showed off their shiny new “phone without the phone”, giving the likes of Game Center, FaceTime, and iMessage well deserved close-ups in a brand new shell. Picture perfect in every frame, the new white iPod touch will be a hot gift for anyone who wants to stay connected with their friends with free iMessaging or take advantage of all the great apps that iOS has to offer. Thin and lightweight with a respectable video camera for quick home movies, I certainly miss its portability and thinness now that I have an iPhone. Share the fun this holiday season with an iPod touch, too-tight jeans, and a catchy tune that’ll have you dancing and bobbing in your office chair. Apple’s latest commercial can enjoyed on YouTube, or past the break!

Apple Posts New iPad 2 Advert: “Love”

Apple has tonight uploaded a new iPad advert to their YouTube channel. This latest advert, “Love”, follows the general style of their previous iPad 2 adverts — with a strong narrator intertwined with people using the iPad, highlighting an emotional connection. This advert highlights the emotional connection between people using the iPad for things that they love doing. There are shots of a basketball coach using an iPad to show his team a strategy, a group of friends in a band using the iPad to control levels, a person painting a landscape with an iPad, a person creating a home movie with iMovie on the iPad and a young child learning about dinosaurs on an iPad.

For some, it’s a life long passion. For others, its something discovered yesterday. We all have things that speak to us, they drive us to get up early, and stay up late. Getting lost in the things we love has never felt quite like this.

Apple Posts New iPhone 4S Camera, iCloud and Siri Ads

Following the first Siri ad that was released last week, Apple uploaded three new commercials on its website and YouTube channel earlier today, showcasing once again the capabilities of the iPhone 4S’ voice assistant, as well as the improved camera and iCloud support.

The new commercials cover a wide range of hardware and software features of “the most amazing iPhone yet”, albeit some of them are also available on older generation models like the iPhone 4. The camera is described as “all new” with 8 megapixels and “advanced optics”, but the ad also focuses on what’s possible to do after a photo has been taken on an iPhone, showing the built-in photo editing functionalities that “no ordinary camera can do”. From the YouTube description:

With 8 megapixels, advanced optics and more, the all new camera on the iPhone 4S may be the only camera you need.

The second Siri commercial is similar to previous one, featuring different input requests from iPhone 4S users such as map directions, weather conditions, calendar appointements and Messages. Apple describes Siri as your “personal assistant for everything”.

The iCloud ad goes a little more technical – although with Apple’s usual clear and friendly style – to show iBooks and document sync across devices, Purchase history on iTunes, Photo Stream and Automatic Downloads for songs. “Now the things you do on your phone are everywhere you want them”.

Verizon Promotes The 3G iPad 2 In New Commercial

It certainly doesn’t have the flair and emotional connection of one of Apple’s iPad adverts, but Verizon has aired its own iPad 2 commercial, promoting the use of the device with their 3G network. It highlights a few specific iPad features that are made functional with Verizon’s network such as downloading a new book from iBooks at the beach and tweeting at a campsite. Consistent with other Verizon adverts, specific mention is also made towards the end of the advert of Verizon’s network coverage across the US, stating that it is “America’s largest and most reliable network”.

Salesperson: It’s faster, thinner and lighter and with the power of Verizon you can stay connected almost anywhere. Lets say you want to download a best-seller at the beach. Done. Or if you want to stay connected when your miles away from WiFi. No problem! You can even tweet when you’re nowhere near your followers… and you can post pictures too! So what do you think?

Customer: I’ll take it.

Narrator: The iPad 2, on America’s largest and most reliable network. Verizon.

Jump the break to have a watch of the Verizon iPad commercial for yourself, as well as one of Apple’s own iPad adverts, to see for yourself some of the differences. [via 9to5 Mac]

Apple Posts New iPad 2 Advert: “Learn”

Apple has today uploaded a new iPad advert to their YouTube Channel. Like previous iPad adverts, it has a central theme - in this case it is “Learn”, which is also the title of the advert. The entire advert is dedicated to showcasing some standout apps that help people learn. As usual there is nothing related to price or specification, just clips of people experiencing the iPad and the apps that make it great.  Some of those apps shown include the TED talks app, Chinagram, iBooks and GarageBand, but in total there are 10 that are shown.

Are you curious about new ideas, do you want to learn a new language, or just a new word? Maybe you want to know more about anatomy, or astronomy. You could master something new, or uncover a hidden talent. There’s never been a better time to learn.

Apple Posts New iPad 2 Commercial: “We’ll Always”

We’ll never stop sharing our memories. Or getting lost in a good book. We’ll always cook dinner, and cheer for our favorite team. We’ll still go to meetings, make home movies, and learn new things. But how do all this, we’ll never be the same.

Apple posted a new iPad 2 commercial on its website and YouTube channel, once again highlighting how the device is changing the way people do things in their lives. With the “We’ll always” ad, Apple wants to show how the iPad has changed, and perhaps improved, the most basic tasks like cooking dinner or editing a quick video in iMovie. Just like other commercials like “Now” and “If You Asked”, Apple’s focus is on apps – the software – rather than technical specifications and hardware features. In this latest video, the iPad is seen organizing photos in the native Photos app, streaming a baseball match and flipping pages of an iBook – among other things. The built-in iOS and the apps – not the screen or the thin form factor – are the real stars in Apple’s iPad commercials.

Apple’s previous iPad 2 commercials were called “We Believe”“If You Asked” and “Now”. Check out the new video below. [YouTube via 9to5mac]

Apple Posts New iPad 2 Commercial: “Now”

Apple has posted a new iPad 2 commercial on its website and official YouTube channel entitled “Now”. Similarly to previous commercials, “Now” puts the focus on what is possible to do with an iPad 2, things like holding a book store in your hands, “listen to a magazine” or “touch the stars”. Apple’s short, elegant and concise iPad commercials want to capture the essence of the iPad as a personal device to do things that were impossible before.

Now, we can watch a newspaper; listen to a magazine; curl up with a movie; and see a phone call. Now, we can take a classroom anywhere; hold an entire book store; and touch the stars.

Because now, there’s this.

Among the featured apps, FaceTime, Spin Magazine, iBooks and the award-winning Star Walk. Apple’s previous iPad 2 commercials were called “We Believe” and “If You Asked”. Check out the new video below.
